Before and after an infill: what does a professional correction restore?
An infill is not simply about hiding the regrowth. First, I assess the natural nail and the existing product, then rebuild the structure so the result looks balanced, feels comfortable and remains elegant from every angle.
Regrowth changes the balance of the entire shape
As the natural nail grows, the reinforcement and apex created in the fresh set gradually move forwards. The nails may begin to look heavier, the sidewalls can lose their clean lines and the longer free edge is exposed to greater leverage.
That is why I assess more than the width of the regrowth at the start of the appointment. I check for lifting, cracks and damage, examine the natural nail and decide whether any area must be removed completely. A compromised area should never simply be covered over.
A correction is rebalancing, not adding thickness
Product that is safe to retain is refined, while lifted or worn areas are removed. Support is then rebuilt in the right position for the chosen length. The aim is controlled product placement, not an accumulation of more and more layers.
At the same time, the length and shape are refined, the sidewalls are aligned and the profile is made lighter. A well-corrected nail can remain slim and elegant while still receiving the reinforcement needed for everyday wear.
What creates a polished “after” result?
A smooth surface, consistent shape, clean free edge and carefully prepared nail folds create the professional finish together. In this set, two softly curved lines of crystals highlight the milky-white base. The decoration follows the nail, so it feels special without looking heavy.
The next correction should be timed to your growth rate, nail length and everyday hand use. Around three weeks works well for many clients, but contact me sooner if you notice lifting, a crack, pain or discolouration instead of waiting for the next appointment.
